There are mirrors at shopping malls, in window displays and in fitting rooms. There are mirrors on the outside of buildings, inside cars and inside houses.
Inside these mirrors we see people looking at themselves. Looking to see if they're still looking good, how their make up is holding, or how that new hair-do is doing. Looking to see if that jaw line boasts a clean shave, the push-up bra is pushing the limits, or that pimple finally made his disappearing act.
So, there are lots of mirrors and lots of people looking at themselves inside these mirrors. But how often do they really look at themselves? Inside themselves. Not look with critical eyes to find fault. Simply looking to see what's looking back at them. Looking to see where they're at spiritually, emotionally, vocationally and the list goes on. Looking as if they're taking an internal audit.
When i look back; when i reflect; when i look into my mirror, i am often amazed what i find. Often i don't find fault. Often i don't find wrong. Or evil. Or lack. Or failure as preempted. Often i find beauty. A flower of growth amidst a field of challenges. A tree of trust in a forest of doubt. An oil lamp of hope amidst a night of despair.
